Day 549. Kanto 129 - 130 by Cryptid-Creations Day 549. Kanto 129 - 130 by Cryptid-Creations
When I remake an evolution line, I kind of like for there to be a similar design element so that it'll look more connected. Since Magikarp and Gyrados are so drastically different, I'm trying to go for the idea that the Magikarp simply holds the egg of gyrados instead

(I mean this in regards to the style/pattern with which I'm trying to be consistent with for these --not meant to be a critique on the original design)

......... and yes, it totally eats the magikarp when it hatches

Your derp fish evolved into a flying fish/serpent-thing for some reason.

Magikarp's evolution to Gyarados is a reference to a Japanese legend in which a carp swims up a river, and when it passes under a gate thing at the top, it turns into a dragon.

Perhaps Magikarp constantly holding that egg explains why it's so pathetically weak.

Nice, amazing work. i would say though that the gyarados is a stretched up magikarp.

Erm... People have said this before, but legend says that a koi or carp that trains hard enough and jumps up a waterfall turns into a dragon. THAT is the transition between magikarp and gyarados. You have helped it "jump the waterfall" of evolution by training it.

I like your Magikarp very much. The idea is great. Like some japanese sacred fish. Your gyrados, for some reason, looks less frightening from the original design. It seems to me like it has less personality. I was expecting yours to be exaggerated for some reason, with giant head, small tail and uneven eyes.
